Before a fire, check the local restrictions

A screen on the cap does not override a burn restriction.

Check the authority for your address

County restrictions, city rules and the order in effect can differ. Read the current local order and contact the issuing authority if you are unsure how it applies.

Inspect the termination

A damaged or blocked screen needs attention. A cap can help keep debris out, but it is not permission to burn during a restriction.

Wait if the system needs work

Do not light a fire to test a blocked or suspect flue. Book the inspection and resolve the finding first.
